Tribal Culture and Sustainable Development in Nuapada District of Odisha

Author Name : Mr. Hutasan Majhi, Mr. Shyamlal Marndi, Mr. Gopinath Shabar

ABSTRACT The Culture encompasses all aspects of life, including the arts, social practices, cultural beliefs, and institutions of a population, which are passed down from generation to generation. Sustainable development, in contrast, refers to a model of economic growth that addresses current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. In the Nuapada district of Western Odisha, sustainable development is essential for preserving both the unique tribal culture and the natural environment, ensuring that traditional ways of life can thrive alongside economic progress. Tribal culture is inherently aligned with the principles of sustainable development, as it emphasizes the use of natural resources with a focus on preservation and conservation. For tribal communities, the environment holds a deep spiritual and practical significance, playing a vital role in fulfilling cultural and everyday needs.
