ABSTRACT Caste is the basic structural feature of Hindu society. All social scientists are agreed on this. Since Hinduism is generally recognised to be much a social system as a religious, its social framework embodying caste rituals has governed the lives of the majority of Indians for hundreds of years. Objective: The objective of this study is to examine the interplay between religion and society in the context of the caste system. We explore how caste identities intersect with factors such as education, employment, and politics, shaping the social fabric of India. Additionally, this study highlights recent efforts towards caste-based equality, the ongoing discourse surrounding the system's evolution and social work intervention
