Vedic Mathematics & The Golden Ratio

Author Name : Dr Prof Avinash R Challelwar

ABSTRACT Vedic mathematics and the golden ratio are both fascinating topics in mathematics from different traditions and perspectives. Origin and Philosophy: Vedic mathematics refers to a set of ancient mathematical techniques originating in India, specifically from the Vedas, ancient Hindu scriptures. These techniques are believed to have been rediscovered in the early 20th century by Bharati Krishna Tirtha, who compiled them into a system. Techniques: Vedic mathematics includes a variety of mental math techniques that are purported to be faster than conventional methods for tasks such as multiplication, division, square roots, and more complex calculations. Applications: While controversial in terms of historical accuracy and efficacy compared to modern mathematics, Vedic mathematics has gained popularity for its potential benefits in mental arithmetic and has been taught in some educational contexts.
