ABSTRACT
Vedic Maths ….. It is a truly and rarely wonderful world of "Vedic" mathematics, this is a great science that its founder claims was lost due to the advent of modern mathematics. Its founder says that Vedic mathematics is a gift given to this world by the ancient sages of India, although there is no historical evidence for this claim. It is a limited arithmetic and polynomial calculation system that is simpler and more fun than the equivalent algorithms of modern mathematics.
Vedic mathematics is the name to a supposedly ancient calculation system that was "rediscovered" from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krishna TirthajiMaharaj (1884-1960). According to Tirthaji, all Vedic mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras or word formulas. "Vertically and Crosswise" is one of these Sutras. These formulas are intended to describe the way the mind works naturally and are therefore supposed to be of great help in directing the student to the proper method of solution. None of these sutras have ever been found in Vedic literature nor are their methods consistent with known mathematical knowledge of the Vedic era.
