Virtual Brain: Dependable Sensing of EEG Signals for the Actuation of Intelligent Brain Controlled System
Author Name : Athira P S, Devadharsini B, Dhivya S, Dr. Komala James
ABSTRACT
Before the era of smartphones, touch-to-speech technology has been very much expensive to afford. As years passed by, whole range of new and advanced, mind-blowing technologies have been invented by genius minds all over the world. One among those technological advancements is the Brain Computer Interface which brought the imagination of controlling the environment with the brain to an absolute reality. EEG is a non-invasive interface studied by most people. It measures the voltage fluctuations produced from the ionic current within the brain neurons. Neurons interact with each other through the electrical signals. These interaction has unique patterns. These patterns are detected by the brainwave sensor. In the whole world of enormous population, around 15% of them are differently abled people coping up with hindrances in physical movements. The ambitious objective of the proposed system is to succor differently abled people enduring spinal injuries, paralysis and other related impediments to gain better control of their environment with independence and freedom of their own through home automation controlled by their brain. The BCI system consist of an eeg sensor headset which collects the brain wave signals and an application interface consisting of the microcontroller and home appliances for building the home automation system.
