Virtual Mouse Using Hand Gesture Recognition

ABSTRACT

The proposal of this paper presents a unique camera vision-based cursor control system mainly using hand gestures captured from a webcam through a color detection technique. Different algorithms that are formerly being used have been analyzed and compared with their advantages and disadvantages. With the help of this system the user can traverse the computer cursor using hand bearing color caps or tapes and left click and dragging will be performed using different hand gestures. In the same single network, it performs file-transfer between the two systems. A low-resolution webcam is used which acts as a sensor and is able to track the users hand bearing color caps in 2 dimensions. Python and OpenCV is used to implement the system and the output will be displaced on the monitor of the screen while shape and position information will be gathered using the color detection.
