ABSTRACT Vitiligo is a chronic skin condition marked by the gradual loss of melanocytes, resulting in depigmented patches on the skin. It affects around 1-2% of the global population and can occur at any age, typically starting in childhood or early adulthood. The impact of vitiligo on a patient’s quality of life can be significant, as the underlying causes remain largely unknown and are thought to involve a complex interplay of genetic, immunological, and neurological factors. Individuals with vitiligo often experience emotional distress, and the condition is frequently associated with other autoimmune diseases, as well as conditions like Sutton or halo nevus and malignant melanoma.
