WIFI-6 -Evaluation and Challenges towards the Next Generation Wireless Network
Author Name : Sharma Sonu Kumar, Shivani Varshney, Anamta Abbas
ABSTRACT Wi-Fi 6, also known as 802.11ax, represents the latest evolution in wireless communication technology, aiming to address the increasing demands for higher data rates, improved network efficiency, and enhanced performance in dense deployment scenarios. This standard introduces several key features, including Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), Basic Service Set (BSS) Coloring, Target Wake Time (TWT), and improved Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) techniques. OFDMA facilitates better utilization of available frequency bands, enabling simultaneous communication with multiple devices. BSS Coloring reduces interference in crowded environments, enhancing the overall network capacity. TWT introduces power-saving mechanisms for connected devices, leading to more energy-efficient operations. Enhanced MIMO techniques contribute to higher data rates and improved reliability. This paper provides an overview of these features, discusses the potential benefits for diverse use cases, and highlights the challenges and opportunities associated with the adoption of Wi-Fi 6 in various deployment scenarios.
