ABSTRACT The silver economy's increasing importance is suggestive of the global population's accelerated ageing. This study presents a comparative analysis of India and Japan to examine how different socio-economic contexts influence responses to ageing. While Japan represents a mature, highly aged society with well-established systems, India is at a transitional stage, where ageing is rising but institutional readiness is still evolving. The study focuses on key dimensions including demographic trends, policy frameworks, market structure, technology adoption. In Japan, ageing has been addressed through early and consistent policy intervention, supported by universal healthcare and a comprehensive long-term care system.
