ABSTRACT This project examines the central question: Why has Indian democracy endured and consolidated since independence, while democratic systems in Nepal, Bangladesh, and Pakistan have experienced repeated breakdowns, regime changes, and institutional instability? Through a comparative political analysis, the study evaluates structural, institutional, historical, and socio-political factors that explain divergent democratic trajectories in South Asia.
